Having worked mainly on projects of high level cultural-heritage significance, we are trained in work methods that demand a sensitivity and attention to site and context, that being historical, social, spatial or technical. We believe this should be applied on all projects through analysis and research on a varied scale. We work closely with our clients to build a relationship based on mutual respect. Understanding their needs, desires, priorities, and constraints is essential to delivering high-quality solutions that are perfectly tailored to the project.

We think of our work as deliberate intervention. We don’t just build; we operate with a level of care that respects the existing anatomy of the landscape. By looking closely at what already exists we work intentionally and precisely with reusing materials on site, transforming existing structures or adding only the absolute necessary to elevate and make a space work.

We believe an archeological curiosity can unfold a site's narrative so it becomes meaningful to the future.

Every project is approached with curiosity and reflection in an attempt to unfold a narrative that can be built upon. By looking closely at what already exists we work intentionally and precisely with reusing materials on site, transforming existing structures and adding only the absolute necessary to elevate and make a space work.

Finally we believe great architecture comes from great collaboration. A curious approach to an end result and a willingness to collaborate is the very foundation of how we think.

Victor Emil Fruergaard
cand. arch

Victor graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture in 2017 specialising in cultural heritage, restoration and transformation. Following graduation he gained ten years of professional experience at Over Byen Arkitekter in Copenhagen.

At Over Byen Arkitekter, Victor primarily worked on highly complex public projects in historic settings. He held a project lead role on several significant works, including, the transformation of Wilders Plads 8 into artist studios, the transformation of a police station at Store Kongensgade 100 to student accommodation and the renovation and restoration of Admiral Hotel at Toldbodgade 22, including the addition of a new harbour pavilion extending the hotel’s restaurant.

Since co-founding Fruergaard Kampmann Architects, Victor has worked as project director on a range of private and public projects alongside Anna.

In addition to his architectural practice, Victor has studied carpentry at Copenhagen’s technical school and enjoys building furniture in his spare time. He also serves on the board of the listed building Kanonbådskur 3 in Copenhagen.

Anna Gertrude Kampmann
cand. arch

Anna graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture, graduating in 2017 with a specialisation in cultural heritage, restoration, and transformation.

Following her graduation, she moved to London, where she worked for Stirling Prize–winning architects Witherford Watson Mann. Her work there included a number of public projects - the transformation of The Courtauld Gallery at Somerset House, a newly built co-working office building on Cremer Street and a first-prize–winning proposal for Theresesgate, a competition focused on transforming a historic factory building in Oslo into housing.

In 2020 Anna returned to Copenhagen and joined Berthelsen & Scheving Arkitekter, where she primarily worked on the transformation and restoration of the listed Aalholm Castle. She most recently worked at Leif Hansen Arkitekter, serving as project architect for three years on the transformation and restoration of Børsen, both before and after the fire.

Since co-founding Fruergaard Kampmann, Anna has acted as project lead alongside Victor on all projects presented on this page.

In addition to her practice, Anna has worked as an assistant teaching professor on the master’s programme Cultural Heritage, Restoration and Transformation at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture, and enjoys sharing her knowledge through teaching.
